am coaching with Megan -- 11:15 (forgot time change)
worked on assignment for that thing
I have notes in 2 places -- figure out what to do there. WJEF proxe station for promoting conference. Way cool idea! Jeremy Hamilton idea maybe. Utah state? They had something interesting, can't remember what. Erik Seaburg, Mark Charles would be a good one to talk to frame up the idea of fry bread (celebration but also identification). Passage of Jesus partying with tax collector friends and Jesus -- religious heat shows up. Maybe "why yes?" and "why no?" list. White man's religion, indifferent to our pain, likes to party. Perhaps have graphics on options showing bites out of a piece of frybread. History of frybread panel [another idea: images of creator - transcendent/ imminent/ personal/impersonal ]. Who makes the best frybread in your family?
- Cultural Renaissance
- Culture changers, culture makers (Maureen mentioned from AA)
- Arts Ministry/ visual stuff
- following Jesus, Honoring tradition. Look back to look forward.
[nm] these may be notes from an earlier NM meeting with Megan
- NAU (Northern Arizona U?) Fellowship in Flagstaff. Jessica Grahman was there. Big growth, 40 ppl. "One Tribe" was the name, now a church but still has campus ministry. There was a Korean missionary who founded it (it was a partnership thing, not IV), rather like Urban Korean hip-hop. Not contextualized so much, though the leader was committed to that.
- Jen - National (need more #s to justify more funding, growth). lost 2 or 3 staff (Celeste) when things seemed to be growing.
- problem we want to avoid with "exceptionalism" in IV. The bright & shiny person syndrome that leads to burn-out (as well as discouragement to those who aren't so bright and shiny). Native in everyone.
- NAIITS doing academics/activism/ministry in a native way.
12:20 Fri. lunch disco, what is the Lawrence Gospel? Jonah, David, Laura, Grier, Chrsitina, Jeremiah, Katie, Kate, Aeden, -- room was full
1:30 to 2:30 Grier 2W. He may do prayer map, too. Did overview. Could do the "now you share the gospel" exercise next time (get bases). Also talked about leadership for next year. He is in Gaming House, may be leading duoughetydo and tri-something (fighting style?) groups.
