Prepare partners. Engage, Grow.
$4k for funding. This is for new campuses. Would include replants. Not generally for plants where there is already an IV chapter.
Could work for area accelerator and ...
[Team: Chris, Zach, Richard,
[contextualize these materials for Native
Abner just wants to empower people to plant.
If you are interested sign up on the website. Middle section disbursement is only through a coaching center staff.
Currently 10 coaches, adding 6 more. Abner wants to add some of us to the coaching center. Abner currently can't just assign people to certain campuses (i.e. tribal).
Coaching center vs. our coaching team. Nat'l team is how we are tracking funding.
UI UPDATE
What is the secret sauce?
now, will this work if we are coaching alumni, volunteers, and solo student planters.
Rachel: student coaching. Buddy and Matt. Need another
Amy P.: currently running it, but she is going on sabbatical (need someone else)
Wilie is working with Jacob re: volunteers.
COVID-19 new normal
What opportunities?
Navajos don't have friends, then have family. COVID can focus on reaching out to families. (Mark Charles' wife).
Kamalani -- more involvement. Campus connecting is more work. There are extra logistics involved in getting to and being on campus.
Ignite training. Jamie. A lot like what Heather has done at SIPI. Looking at a hobby as a way to build trust. How to create online communities based on hobbies. Rhiannon's staff at Haskell a while back.
Kind of like proxe stations.
Start with a spark we have in common. We get to be fascinated with our students again. Your hobbies are interesting and can help others.
Megan is starting an alumni coaching cohort, needs senior recommendations
smaller coaching meetings, but 2 big coaching meetings:
big mtg Jan 16 1pm CT 1p
may 12 1:30p
Possible coaching opportunities:
Bellingham Washington. NW Indian college (7 campuses, not really run by tribe, inter-tribal somewhat more open, several BA programs, M was there AUg 5-8, pres. is Christian), woman early 70s (IV alum), was w/ North American Indian Mission (now Indigenous Ministries). Her husband used to work on the campus. Also a friend who is an IV alum doing things with Native students. Was on exec team w/ Jim Tebby & knew Barney Ford. Also a couple of other alumns. Andrew, more go-getter. Well networked in town, could raise money for staff there. June, Andrew, Nathaniel. Megan will try to do zoom. Have worked with Megan in past.
Dave Palidino's idea - Flint? Zach (was doing Angela at Morris)
