Some songs:
- Lord I need you oh I need you (chorus)
every day I need you
- we will not be shaken...our God is for us we have overcome
- everyone needs compassion...savior, he can move the moutains
- Christ alone Hillsong reboot. My hope is built on nothing less
- hallelujah, you have won the victory
- all other Gods, they are the works of men, you are the most high God...
Written on evaluation:
Top notch -- really enjoyed myself. Putting the milestones into a powerpoint presentation is a great idea (less personal, but area teams can do more), as it cut down to an appropriate length.
A note about planning for dig-ins. The framework for the revision planning really determined the way it was going to go, and I still object to the overall idea (not Amy's fault -- she did a great job with the time she had). I think the idea of "standardizing" the offerings by content and outcome is not the best way to do it. ALL of our other tracks are of that sort now (except Camille's). Personally, it makes the leading a dig-in less attractive to me, because dig-in prep has often been the cutting edge of my thinking and study. I feel a little stifled by the new structure. It is largely for this reason that I think it is a bad idea for everyone. Why not leave it more flexible, a place for staff to experiment, grow, and follow hunches (or the Spirit) about what is important for students and the campus? Our planning included no discussions of that sort -- we simply discussed a particular methodology and then looked for scriptures that would fit it. New staff can still see how it is done without that framework -- it is about the art of teaching, not following a procedure to success. Teaching is not a technology. I could go on: our conference structure remains rather white and evangelical, we structure for an instrumental use of scripture (though our confession and usually our practice are better than this). I'm not mad, just a little disappointed that our regional success in "standard of care" or "best practice" kind of thinking is putting us in a box for everything. OK, now that I have re-stated my case once again (I keep doing it because I don't hear any discussion about it and am not sure people understand me), I really must end my little rant with expressions of gratitude and admiration for a really well designed and executed set of regional meetings. I think there were things there to both encourage and challenge everyone.

I'll make another little plug for a "staff wiki" for events like these -- a little one-stop site on google apps with explanations, FAQs, links, and attachments of everything staff will need to know for the event. As always, I am very happy to put my money where my mouth is and teach someone how to set up and use this wonderful tool (a tool that is already included in our ivlp.org and wineiv.org google app, but which we haven't gotten good use of yet).
