Letter to churches
Dear Friends,
I'm writing to ask your help in supporting and encouraging students at Lawrence. As many of you know, the election and its aftermath this week is difficult. Campaign narratives have been effective in building a sense of fear and alienation. In addition, there have been various reports of Fox Valley community members threatening students (things like "drive by" racial slurs). The students hit hardest are minority and international students. "Crisis" is not too strong of a word to describe the campus climate. It doesn't help that this is coming so close to the end of the term and final exams.
The Lawrence Christian Fellowship students are planning some special events, but in this situation it would be especially helpful for Lawrence to hear from the Appleton community. We are suggesting something simple: care packages (perhaps a plate of cookies or muffins or some other treat) with a brief note of encouragement ("we hope your finals go well", "we want you to feel safe and loved in our community", etc.). It would be fine to sign the card with your name, your church name, or something anonymous like "concerned Appleton community member."
Christian students will be helping distribute these care packages where they are needed. I can also receive them at my home (837 E. South St.) and pass them on to students. You could also drop them off directly at the campus Diversity Center (in Memorial Hall, on the west side of Lawe St. overlooking the river) or at the International House (just west of Meade St. near the corner of Meade and E. John St.).
We could use notes/treats for the prayer meeting on Monday 11/14, a service event Saturday morning 11/19, or any time in between for distribution at the Diversity Center or International House.
Thank you for you help and prayers!

3:30pm Freud play at Christ the Rock

Spoke with Alan, Alan Atwood <atwoods@milwpc.com> after the play (he played Freud). Is a good play, may work well at Lawrence.
Based off a book The Question of God by Nicholi Armand (sp?), which was in turn based on a popular class.

Hey Tim!
I wanted to get in touch with you and start a dialogue about the possibility of doing “Freud’s Last Session” at Lawrence. I know you’ve been talking to Peter Leschke about this and I’m wondering if you and/or some of your students are planning to come and see the show at Christ the Rock this weekend. We have three shows: Friday at 7:30, Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 3:30 pm. Will you be able to make one of those? I figure that’s the best place to start – for you to see the show and determine whether it’s something that would appeal to the students at Lawrence. You can order tickets at www.freudtickets.com
